NACOSS NATIONAL HACKATHON EVENT

A hackathon (also known as a hack day, hackfest or codefest) is an event in which computer programmers and others involved in software development, including graphic designers, interface designers and project managers, collaborate intensively on software projects. Occasionally, there is a hardware component as well. Hackathons typically last between a day and a week in length. Some hackathons are intended simply for educational or social purposes, although in many cases the goal is to create usable software. Hackathons tend to have a specific focus, which can include the programming language used, the operating system, an application, an API, the subject and the demographic group of the programmers. In other cases, there is no restriction on the type of software being created.

The word "hackathon" is a portmanteau of the words "hack" and "marathon", where "hack" is used in the sense of playful, exploratory programming, not its alternate meaning as a reference to computer crime. The term seems to have been created independently by both the developers of OpenBSD and the marketing team of Sun; these usages both first happened in 1999.
In our own case, Nacoss will be collaborating with the Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON) to ensure that our even is successfully organized.
         At least two teams are expected to register from kwasu..... if you are interested and willing to participate. Kindly Click to register or get intouch with;

NACOSS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

NACOSS NATIONAL
Secretariat: Delta State University, Abraka
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE DESIGN
INTERNAL MEMO
TO: CHAPTER PRESIDENTS
DATE: 6TH May, 2013

INTRODUCTION
The International Conference is emanating from the office of the National President and the theme of this conference has been tagged “Building World Standard Software Applications”. Overtime, we have discovered that more Nacossites across the country are picking up interest in software development and as such a lot of software programs have been developed to suit several users, but eighty percent (80%) or more of this software do not meet standard requirements and as such are not presentable for marketing, hence the theme of this conference.
As stated above this conference is being organized from the office of the National President because of certain important strides that we intend to take in this administration. It also suffices to say that this conference is not a replacement of the ICT challenge trip being handled by the VP international which will be coming up later this year.

Conference Aims
·         To launch our own Nacoss Mobile Chat Application which will be sold to Nacossites across the country upon return
·         To launch the Nacoss Desktop Application which will also be sold to Nacossites across the Nation and will aid us in our proposed Nacoss Hall of Fame Award during the National Convention
·         To give Nacossites access to the international software market
·         Lastly, to set a standard for every interest group that intends to partner with Nacoss on any platform.

·         Closing celebrations for 28th June, 2013
·         Departure to Lagos is 29th June, 2013.
Other Activities
We are currently holding discussions with the LeoStan Ekeh the CEO of Zinnox Computers to make it possible for three thousand Nacossites (3000) to purchase laptops with ease of payment spread throughout this administrative period. We also doing the same with Brian Integrated Services and we hope to have both companies participate in the conference.
There will be a software exhibition contest as stated above for participating schools. The software requirements and specification details will be communicated to all chapter presidents and participants by the National Director of Software in due time. There will be prices associated with the exhibition.
